Methodology — how we check every figure

The fact registry: no figure without a source

Behind this site sits a fact registry file. Every published figure — price, percentage, duration — must be bound to one row in it. A row carries:

• the value and its unit;
• the source — which document or party the figure comes from;
• the official link where one exists (KKM/iDengue, DOA, MPOB, FAMA, WHO, acts and codes of practice);
• the verification date — when we ourselves checked the source;
• the status — reproduced by us, operator-stated, or claimed-but-unverified. Unverified claims never reach a public page.

Our publishing system rejects pages carrying unbound figures. This is not a polite promise — it is a gate that fails the build when violated.

Era stamps: prices do not stay true

Prices (fertilizer, traps, fogging contracts, durian, FFB) move. So every price page carries an era stamp — the window in which that figure was true. When a new era arrives, we write a new page and the old one becomes an archive: still reachable, marked as archived, with forward and back links between the two. We do not silently overwrite old price pages.

Our sources and their limits

Our first source is always the official document or study you can open yourself: KKM/iDengue guidance for dengue, DOA for fertilizer and pesticides, MPOB for oil palm, FAMA for marketing prices, WHO for vector guidance. Where we cite a secondary source, the page says so.

The honest limit: some market figures (warung prices, service contract rates) come from industry observation and reports, not gazettes. Those pages state a range and the nature of the source — not a falsely precise average.

Correction policy

Found something wrong — a stale figure, a wrong source, a bad interpretation? Tell us via the contact page (WhatsApp is fastest). The procedure:

1. We check your claim against the original source, not against our intentions.
2. Confirmed error: the page is corrected, the “updated” date changes, and a short correction note is added to the page.
3. Material errors that affect a reader’s decision get a clear correction notice at the top of the page — not a footnote at the bottom.
4. We do not delete wrong pages — we correct and archive them. Silent deletion is half a lie.

How we make money

Transparent from day one:

• Affiliate links. Some pages carry marked Shopee links — if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every page carrying such links says so. Non-Shopee shopping links are not used on this site, in line with the affiliate programme terms we operate under ^{[shopee-no-lazada-rule]}.
• Our own products (phased). In some niches we will sell our own or a partner-distributed product. When a page sells our own product, that is stated on the page — our product reviews never pretend to be third-party reviews.
• Nothing else. No paid articles, no hidden sponsored links, no selling of your data.

Claims we refuse to write

Malaysian law prohibits product claims presenting them as dengue-preventing or dengue-treating without advertising-board approval ^{[act290-dengue-claims-ban]} — and it is our policy anyway. Same in agriculture: no yield promises, no plant-disease recovery claims, and no registration claims for products outside any federal registration scheme ^{[fert-no-federal-registration]}. If a product can only be sold with claims we refuse to write, it is not a product we will recommend.
